Chlorination

WHAT IS LATEX CHLORINATION?

A permanent chemical surface treatment that reduces the need for liquid dressing aids and powders. Perfect for catsuits, shirts and other hard-to-get-into items. By exposing the surface of latex to chlorine in a special process, the open-ended latex molecules are closed off creating a “glass-like” feel with virtually no more “tackiness”. This also can help slow down the degradation of your outfit and preserve a shine without the need for constant polishing.

WHY CHLORINATION?

Ever wanted your outfits to easily slide on without the need to powder or lube up first? Chlorinating definitely is for you! Additionally, chlorinated latex on chlorinated latex slides with little to no resistance making a catsuited hug or gloves hands giving a massage even more sensual.

WHAT CAN & CANNOT BE CHLORINATED?

Almost anything latex can be chlorinated: catsuits, shirts, pants, dresses, vacbeds, sleepsacks, stockings, gloves and the list goes on and on. We not only chlorinate our own items, we will do any other manufacturers as well. The best results come from tighter garments that are harder to get dressed in like catsuits, gloves and stockings that normally required messy lubes and powders. Any garments or accessories with rivets, buckles, grommets or other metals may tarnish and rust due to the chlorine reaction. Normally the rusting is minimal but not uncommon and precautions will be taken for larger metallic bits to prevent staining if possible.

Any material that is not a natural latex product may not take to the process as well (if at all). PVC, vinyl, silicone, leather, etc cannot be done. Older latex items that are starting to ‘melt’ or disintegrate, well worn, not well cared for are not recommended to have done as any weak areas become brittle and create areas where it will tear or fail easily. For those items, there is usually very little that can be done to restore them and replacement may be a better option.

MEASURING TIPS

Bust/Chest- Measure around the shoulder blades, under the armpits and over the fullest part of the bust or chest.
Waist- Find your natural waistline and measure.
Hips- Measure the fullest part of the hip (usually about 7-9 inches below the waist) If your hips are two sizes or more larger than your waist, use your hip measurement to determine size.
Neck- Measure around the narrowest part of the neck or where the item would approximately lay.
Gag/Mouth- Measure around the head with mouth open. Place tape measure at base of neck where strap would normally lay. All buckled gags have adjustment holes as well so measurements doesn’t have to be exact!
Hoods/Masks & Hats- Measure around the forehead to the back of the skull. Place tape measure at base of skull above where your spine starts.

Keep the measuring tape comfortably snug, not tight. You will need a cloth tape measure for best results. We strongly suggest you have someone help you as taking your own can skew the final measurements. Remember, latex does have stretch to it and the thinner it is the more it will stretch. If you’re looking for a tight fit, be sure to measure right against the skin. Do not reduce your measurements further! We already reduce the pattern sizes for a snug fit and account for the stretch built-in. If you have any sizing questions or want a tighter or looser fit, let us know and we can certainly accommodate.

General Latex Care

Oils, greases and solvents destroy latex and rubber. Keep all latex garments away from oils, hand creams, most polishes and leather (leather contains oils).Avoid prolonged exposure to excess heat, sunlight and humidity, which can discolor and degrade the integrity of latex. Some silicone lubricants can leach into and unglue seams if not washed off after each use. Make sure any lubricant you may choose to use is latex compatible. Light colored latex rubber can permanently stain when it comes in contact with copper, brass, or bronze. This includes handling copper pennies and then touching latex! Be extremely careful around candles, cigarettes, or other open flames- Latex is flammable! We can not and do not take responsibility for damage to latex garments caused by improper use or misuse.

DRESSING & UNDRESSING

Take care when dressing and undressing! Latex does stretch to a point but do not over-stretch as it will tear. Long fingernails, jewelry or other sharp objects can damage latex. Talcum powder, latex compatible lubricants, baby powder or liquid dressing aids make dressing easier, particularly with tight-fitting items.

WASHING & DRYING

Latex, like other types of clothing require regular care. Make sure to wash your latex garments each time you have worn them. If necessary add a little mild soap to lukewarm water and then rinse well in warm water. Hang the garment up and allow to dry completely. It may be necessary to turn it inside out to facilitate the drying process. Once completely dry the garment should be lightly powered with talcum or unscented baby powder on the inside. Thin latex tends to stick together after washing. A very light latex polish could be applied prior to storage.

STORAGE

Store latex clothing in a dark, cool, dry place, preferably on wide clothes hangers or loosely folded. Store light and dark colors separately. Some darker colors can bleed into lighter colors, permanently discoloring it.

SHINE

For manufacturing reasons, new latex garments will arrive with a fine layer of powder on them unless you choose the pre-shine option at checkout. This can easily be removed with a quick rinse and polish. The most commonly used products are latex polishes. These will give your garments a matte shine. Spray a little polish on the garment with a pump spray bottle and distribute it evenly with a soft cloth. After a short drying period the garment will be ready. For a brighter, more intense shine, silicone sprays are the most suitable. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully and be sure they do not contain any petroleum distillates or oils.
